Larry Sng and his future

KUCHING: The future of the ‘former’ president of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) is a ‘popular’ subject among many political pundits in the state.

Their strong interest in the former president is understandable – the state election is just around the corner and to-date there he is still party-less with not even one multi-racial based party in the State Barisan Nasional (BN) is interested in him.

As it is now, the current PRS president Dato Sri James Jemut Masing is certainly the happiest among the political adversaries of the ‘former’ president.

He is glad that no political parties in the State Barisan Nasional (BN) are to open their doors to his former rival in PRS.

He is also delightful that Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has decided not to agree to swap its seat for Pelagus.

Thus, it would give Dato Sri James Jemut Masing a golden opportunity to kill the ‘former’ president who is regarded by the president as an ungrateful young Chinese man who had staged a mutiny in the party to overthrow him and his loyal lieutenants.

Dato Sri James Jemut Masing was lucky that the Registrar of Society (ROS) had decided to take side with him.

If it happened the other way round, it would be Assistant Minister to Social Development YB Larry Sng Wei Shien who is having a devilish smile right now – not him.

While PRS is said by political pundits to field a new face the party Information Chief Wilson Nyabong as its candidate in the Pelagus constituency in the next election, YB Larry Sng Wei Shien is actually fixing his eyes on someone else.
Based on the feedbacks which he receives from the ground - and may be from old friends in PRS- Wilson Nyabong who is a Political Secretary to the Chief Minister is just a decoy.

Whether Dato Sri James Jemut Masing believes it or not, his political nemesis is now closely watching the Kapit Walikota Philimon Nuing.

May be YB Larry Sng Wei Shien has to agree with the feedbacks that Philimon Nuing could cause more problems to him than Wilson Nyabong by virtue being the Kapit Walikota.

Philimon Nuing could use his government’s position to go around Pelagus at ease because he is basically the ‘taiko’ in Kapit.

On what ticket is the party-less YB Larry Sng Wei Shien to contest in the coming state election, he is certain to stand as a pro-BN independent.

Yes, as a pro-BN independent.

And he is not going to be the only pro-BN independent candidate in the coming election.

As a matter of fact, there is a possibility that he could be a de-facto leader of a group of pro-BN independent candidates in the state election.

On where these pro-BN independent candidates are to contest, let it be a guessing game for Dato Sri James Jemut Masing and other party leaders who have ‘rejected’ him.
